Dr. Caitlin Foor-Pessin joins Vermont Gastroenterology after eight years of practice in Ithaca, New York, most recently with Cayuga Gastroenterology and Cayuga Medical Center, where she served as Chair of the hospital’s Endoscopy Committee and as the gastroenterology representative on its Surgical Governance Committee. A dedicated educator, she regularly taught internal medicine residents during their gastroenterology rotations.

Dr. Foor-Pessin graduated summa cum laude from the University at Buffalo before earning her medical degree, cum laude, from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan Health System and her fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Foor-Pessin provides comprehensive care for the full range of digestive health conditions, with clinical interests including colorectal cancer screening and colonoscopy, reflux and esophageal disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Her research has focused on colorectal cancer risk assessment and endoscopic techniques, with presentations at Digestive Disease Week and publications in Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Throughout her career she has been recognized repeatedly by patients and colleagues for compassionate care, including the University of Michigan’s Making A Difference Award and Strong Memorial Hospital’s Strong Star commendation.
